Plot Summary

The crime wing of CBI is still reeling from the after-effects of the anarchy unleashed by the Asur. Forensic expert Nikhil Nair is drowning himself in guilt over losing his daughter to the greater good. Dhananjay Rajpoot, aka DJ, has embraced spirituality in hopes of alleviating his misery over the loss of his wife. Meanwhile, Ridhi Dogra who has endless sympathy and solace to offer Nikhil is also trying to overcome her grief of losing her colleagues. The entire CBI unit is disbanded, each coping with their own demons. But Shubh Joshi and his army of demons are not done destroying the world. What happened at the end of season 1, was just the beginning. Asur is back with a vengeance, and his only goal is annihilation. But soon Dj comes out of his sage phase, and despite his demons, Nikhil also comes back to the office to catch Asur once and for all. This time, Nikhil's wife Naina also plays an active role in the chase. DJ, Nikhil and his team are fuelled with an intense need for justice for the loss of their loved ones and saving the world one episode at a time. Will DJ and Nikhil nab Asur before he obliterates the world? Or will they fall short of catching Asur and lose him and the world as they know it forever?

Cast Performance

OTT platforms give a lot of ignored actors a golden opportunity to shine. And Arshad Warsi wisely utilizes this opportunity. He is intense and emotionally draws us into the painful world of DJ Rajpoot. Barun Sobti delivers another brilliant performance as Nikhil. Anupriya Goenka and Ridhi Dogra are perfect in their roles. Vishesh Bansal as the teenage Shubh Joshi is impressive in his apathetic avatar. Meiyang Chang is a great addition to this already-talented cast.

Overall Remarks

Asur 2 and Asur 1 are masterpieces. The perfect script though is riddled with plot holes, and still offers a thrilling experience. Where the first season explored demonic mythology and the nature and nurture of evil, this season also seamlessly weaves technology as evil. Mindblowing performances, stellar cast, near-perfect writing, and direction, and hair-rousing music all add up to make Asur 2 a must-watch this month!
